The World Trade Club invites you to join us on Wednesday, February 27 to participate in a breakfast forum on the Changing Landscape of Importing. The year 2007 brought forth several hot topics in the world of importing, from the increase of inbound goods, challenges of managing quality controls, product recalls and the promise of new regulations ahead for importers. This session is a must for those currently importing or looking to begin an import program.
Session topics include strategic sourcing, quality controls, import compliance, payment and regulatory issues. This forum offers an excellent opportunity to network with companies currently importing products from Asia, Europe and the Americas.
Panel Speakers:
Joshua S. DeCristo, Lawyer, Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt
Josh DeCristo is a lawyer at Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt where he is a
member of the product liability group. Mr. DeCristo grew up in the
Pacific Northwest, and is licensed to practice law in Washington and
Oregon. He recently returned from China and Hong Kong where he presented
several lectures on American product liability law.
Jennifer L. Jolley, Jolley, Esq.
Ms. Jolley's practice focuses on domestic and international trademark
and copyright matters, as well as licensing and litigation. Ms. Jolley
advises clients on all aspects of IP rights procurement, enforcement and
defense, including IP development, acquisition, clearance, protection
and registration, investigation and litigation. She has represented
individuals and small companies in a wide range of industries, from
software developers and e-commerce retailers to toy and game companies
and consumer product manufacturers.
Ms. Deborah Li, Region Manager, SUPERVALU International
Deborah Li is a Region Manager of SUPERVALU's International Division, based in Tacoma. SUPERVALU is the largest food distribution company and 3rd largest grocery retailer in the U.S., with total revenue of over US$40 billion. The International Division services retailers and importer/distributors throughout the world, with a primary focus on Asia Pacific. In her current position, Deborah is responsible for import product sourcing, quality control and inbound logistics for SVI’s general merchandise program for key U.S. retailers, in addition to managing export accounts across Asia. Deborah is a graduate of the University of Puget Sound where she majored in Asian Studies. She has lived in both Mainland China and Taiwan and speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese.
Christopher D. Priddy, Lawyer, Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt
Chris's practice focuses on administrative law, litigation, and
commercial issues. Chris has represented both U.S. and overseas clients
in administrative proceedings at both the federal and state level with
regard to international trade and commercial litigation. Chris assists
clients with U.S. antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings,
import/export and trade issues, export controls, financial services
issues, U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act issues, and commercial
litigation. Before entering private practice, Chris was an official
with the U.S. Department of Commerce's International Trade
Administration.
