WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND?

  • Gain insights into doing business in China from one of China's top businessmen
  • Get practical tips on developing and managing a business within the local context

Starting a business from scratch in any industry in any country is difficult. Starting a business in which you have had no prior experience, in a country where you have never worked and whose language you cannot understand is almost impossible.  Jack Perkowski, pioneer in the Chinese private equity market and author of "Managing the Dragon",  did exactly that in China in 1994 when he founded ASIMCO Technologies and built it into a $500 million components company with 17 plants in China and offices in the US, UK and Japan.

Mr. Perkowski will provide his unique insights into the ways in which China's fundamentally different, cost perspective is affecting its cost structure, the development of its markets and technological innovation, and how these factors will have a profound impact on the way all industries operate around the globe.

About the Speaker:

Jack Perkowski is the Chairman and CEO of ASIMCO Technologies, one of the most important players in China's automotive components industry.  He founded ASIMCO in February 1994 and under his leadership ASIMCO has gained a reputation for developing local management, and integrating a broad based China operation into the global economy.

Mr. Perkowski is also the author of "Managing the Dragon: How I'm Building a Billion Dollar Business in China" and was featured in Thomas Friedman's book, "The World Is Flat”.  He graduated from Yale in 1970 and received an MBA from Harvard in 1973 where he was designated a Baker Scholar.  He joined PaineWebber in 1973 and was the head of Investment Banking when he left to become a partner with in a leveraged buyout firm.
