Join the World Trade Club of Seattle and the City of Bellevue for a discussion on what is on the horizon for China as it enters the new decade. Peter Cuthbert
MulvannyG2 Architecture

Mr. Cuthbert served in a number of roles during his 11-year residency in China. Most recently, he was China Business Development Manager for MulvannyG2 Architecture in Shanghai. Prior to that, he served as Program Manager at the U.S. Consulate General, Shanghai. In this capacity, he organized programs on US – China bilateral relations. His areas of focus included, trade initiatives, the environment, and civil society development. Peter has an MBA from Rutgers University, a BA from the University of Massachusetts, and is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins Nanjing Center. He is a fluent Mandarin speaker.

Madhu Rao
Albers School of Business and Economics, Seattle University


Dr. Rao is an expert in areas of global IT management and the control and coordination of dispersed teams.  He has served as an expert commentator for both the Seattle Times as well as public television in areas relating to global off-shoring, and has been leading groups of MBA students to China and India since 2002.  Dr. Rao has a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems with a minor in International Business from Indiana University, Bloomington. He has held faculty positions  at American University in Washington D.C. and Salisbury University in Maryland. Prior to becoming an academician, Dr. Rao was a systems analyst for Tata Consultancy Services in New Delhi, India.

Alan Lai
CISC(Chinese Information and Service Center)

Mr. Lai is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin and he is trained in Advanced Simultaneous interpreting.  He is a Certified Court Interpreter in the State of Washington.  He has been a community leader in the greater Seattle area for more than 20 years, receiving numerous awards from different law enforcement as well as social service agencies. Mr. Lai was appointed by three Governors of Washington to serve as the commissioner of Asian American Affairs from 1993 to 1997.  Mr. Lai received his B. S. Sc. from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Human Services Management Certificate from the University of Washington.
